HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University football team and the SLU cross country teams will open its 2023 seasons, while the soccer and volleyball teams hit the road and Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo debuts during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Lion football team will open its campaign with three consecutive road games, starting Saturday with a 3 p.m. contest at Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi.
 
The Southeastern men's and women's cross country teams will open 2023 Friday, competing in the UNO Cross Country Opener in New Orleans. The women's 4K race will start at 6:10 p.m. with the men's 5K following at 6:45 p.m.
 
The SLU soccer team (1-2) continues its season-opening six-game road swing this week. The Lady Lions will travel to Southern Friday for a 7 p.m. contest in Baton Rouge, before heading to Arkansas State for a 1 p.m. Sunday match.
 
The Lady Lion volleyball team (1-2) will head out on the road for the first time this fall this week. Reigning Southland Conference tournament champion Southeastern will open play at the Central Arkansas Invitational Friday, facing Arkansas-Little Rock at 1 p.m. and host UCA at 7 p.m. SLU closes the tournament Saturday with a 10 a.m. contest versus Jacksonville State.

The Southeastern football game at Mississippi State will be televised on SEC Network and can also be heard on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM.
 
Friday's volleyball match at Central Arkansas and Sunday's soccer match at Arkansas State will be televised on ESPN+. Friday's soccer match will be streamed at www.jaguarsportsnetwork.com.
 
The 2023 debut episode of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr.). The weekly show will air each Monday during the football season on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Jose San Ramon, General Manager of Walk-On's will be Monday's guest for the Community Spotlight segment.
