HAMMOND, La. – The 2023-24 Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics competition season officially opens during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Lady Lion soccer team will open up its 2023 schedule with a pair of nonconference road matches this week. SLU, which was picked third in the SLC preseason poll, travels to UTRGV for Friday's 7 p.m. season opener. Southeastern travels to Houston Sunday for a 5 p.m. match with the Cougars.
Fans can get their first look at the reigning Southland Conference champion SLU volleyball team this week. The Lady Lions will host the intrasquad Green and Gold match Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pride Roofing University Center.
Southeastern Athletics will help welcome our students back to campus Tuesday with Strawberry Jam presented by Olive Garden at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. The first 700 students will receive free food and t-shirts. Entertainment will include a DJ, as well as performances by the national championship SLU cheerleading team, the Lionette dance team and the Spirit of the Southland band. The reigning Southland Conference champion football and volleyball teams, as well as the Lady Lion soccer team, will also be featured in a pep rally.
