BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track & field team saw
Javon-Taye Williams set a new school record in the 800-meter run, earning himself one of 11 gold medals won by Southeastern athletes Saturday at the Pelican Relays at Southern University's A.W. Mumford Stadium.
Williams made his mark in the SLU record books in the 800-meter run, crossing the line first in a personal best time of 1:48.64, breaking the 35-year-old Southeastern school record of 1:51.07 set by Jason Perlander back in 1988. Williams's time put him atop the Southland Conference in the discipline and ninth in the East Region, putting him in line to qualify for the regional preliminary meet.
He wasn't the only Lion to put himself in position for advancement beyond the Conference Championships as
Terrell Webb made his mark in the hammer throw contest. His sixth and final throw of the day landed 64.09 meters (210'3") down field, setting a new personal best by improving his conference-leading mark by more than 3.5 meters. It also tentatively puts Webb in 23
rd position in the East Region, inside the top-48 taken to the NCAA Regional Competition.

Noah Kiprotich added another gold medal in the men's 1,500-meter run, stopping the clock first in a time of 4:02.31.
In the field,
Kristian Jackson brought home a pair of top place finishes as her 52.20-meter (171'3") throw in the hammer throw and 14.05-meter (46'1.25") throw in the shot put both earned her gold.
Katrine Olsen continued the gold rush for the Lions in the women's high jump, clearing 1.76 meters (5'9.25") to take home the top prize.
Kennedy Flauss earned bronze in the javelin throw, launching a toss of 31.36 meters (102'10").

Seth Pagart swept the podium in the men's discus competition with the best tosses being 52.02 meters (170'8"), 46.5 meters (152'6"), and 44.71 meters (146'8"), respectively. Miller's silver-winning toss was a personal best. Meanwhile, that was one of two gold medals on the day for Nedow, who also took the top step in the shot put with a toss of 16.4 meters (53'9.75").
SLU's final medal on the day came from the 4x400-meter relay as the Lion quartet of Kiprotich,
