Jr. Jumper Slavko Stevic took home a silver medal in the high jump from the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
FRISCO, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University track & field team picked up its third weekly honor in two weeks as
Slavko Stevic earned the Southland Conference's Men's Field Athlete of the Week award the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Stevic, the junior jumper from Serbia, took home the silver medal from the prestigious 95
th Annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in the high jump competition on Friday. He equaled the highest jump of the event, clearing 2.17m (7'1.5") on his second attempt at that height.
Clearing 2.17m gave Stevic a new highest jump of the 2023 outdoor season while at the same time extending his lead in the discipline in the Southland Conference on the year. That jump also tied him for the second-highest jump in the South-Central region and tied him for the eighth-highest jump in all of Division I. After earning First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-American honors for the high jump discipline during the 2023 indoor season, this is Stevic's first career outdoor Conference Field Athlete of the Week honor. He joins
Omri Shiff, who was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, and
Kristian Jackson, who earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week, both of whom earned their awards last week.
Stevic and the Lions return to action on Saturday in Baton Rouge at the Pelican Relays, hosted by Southern University, at Roscoe Moore Stadium.
