HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track and field teams compete in the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships, the SLU baseball team hosts the No. 1 team in the nation and the Lady Lion softball team closes out a record-break regular season during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Southeastern track and field teams will head to Commerce, Texas to participate in the league meet, which runs Thursday through Saturday.
 
The SLU baseball team (19-21, 4-11 SLC) closes out a nine-game home stand Tuesday, hosting No. 1 LSU for a 6:30 p.m. contest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Tuesday's game sponsor is North Oaks Health System.
 
The Lions will then hit the road for a three-game Southland Conference series at Nicholls. The series opens Friday at 6:30 p.m., continues Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
The Southeastern softball team (41-12, 16-5 SLC), which has set a new single-season school record for victories, will close out the regular season with a three-game series at Northwestern State and look to retain the Cypress Trophy. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes with a noon contest Saturday.
 
SLU will be no lower than the No. 2 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament. The Lady Lions are still alive for the top seed, but need to win two more games this weekend at NSU than league-leading McNeese does in its final series at HCU.
