SLU Set to Defend Southland Conference Championship

Southeastern part of 10-team field Tuesday through Thursday in San Antonio

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team will look to repeat as conference champions, when it competes in the 2023 Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships this week at the Hill Country Resort Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.

The tournament runs Tuesday through Thursday. Live scoring, provided by the SLC, will be accessible via the men's golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net. Thursday's final round will be televised on ESPN+.

For Tuesday's opening round, SLU will be paired with New Orleans and UIW. The Lions, Privateers and Cardinals will tee off at 9:40 a.m.

Southeastern has been steady throughout the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule. The Lions have finished in the top five in all of their tournaments this spring, including a fourth-place showing at last week's Tunica National Intercollegiate.

Charlie Forster leads the team with a 71.73 stroke average and has finished 11th or higher in all but one of the tournaments he completed in his sophomore season. Michael Landry, who finished in a tie for fifth last week in Tunica, is second on the team with a 73.92 stroke average. Grayson Glorioso (74.25), Patrick Blaum (76.83) and Cameron Mobley (77.16) will round out the SLU starting five.

Southeastern won last year's league title in McKinney, Texas, besting Francis Marion by 10 strokes. Forster (T3rd), Landry (T8th), Glorioso (T17th) and Mobley (30th) all were part of the 2022 championship-winning performance.

The winner of the Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships will be one of 81 teams to compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regionals. The field will be announced May 3 at noon (CST) on the Golf Channel.
