HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's basketball teams will participate in the Southland Conference Tournament, track's Slavko Stevic represents SLU in the NCAA Indoor Championships and the baseball, softball, golf, tennis and beach volleyball teams will be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (18-13) is the No. 3 seed in the Jersey Mike's Southland Conference Men's Basketball Championships presented by Louisiana Travel and received a first-round bye into the quarterfinals at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Lions will open tournament play Monday at 7:30 p.m. versus the winner of Sunday's first round game between No 6 HCU and No. 7 New Orleans.
 
Should Southeastern get past the Huskies or Privateers, it will advance to face No. 2 seed Northwestern State in Tuesday's semifinal round at 8 p.m. The semifinal winners will face off Wednesday in the 4 p.m. championship game for the tournament championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern women's basketball team (19-9) received a bye into the semifinals as the No. 1 seed and will face either No. 4 UIW, No. 5 Texas A&M-Commerce or No. 8 Northwestern State in the semifinals Wednesday at 11 a.m.
 
Thursday's championship game is set for 4 p.m. and the winner advances to the NCAA Tournament. Should the Lady Lions fail to cut down the nets in Lake Charles, their season will still continue, as they will receive a berth in the WNIT.
 
Stevic, the Southland Conference champion in the high jump, will compete in the NCAA indoor track and field championship meet this weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico, this weekend. Ranked ninth nationally, the Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia native will be apart of the high jump field Saturday at 2 p.m. (Central).
 
The SLU baseball team (8-4) closes its seven-game road swing this week in Alabama. Southeastern starts the week at Alabama A&M for a Wednesday 1 p.m. contest. The Lions will then visit No. 13 Auburn for a three-game series. Southeastern will open the series at its 2022 NCAA Regional opponent Friday at 6 p.m. The set continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Off to the best 20-game start in program history, the Southeastern softball team (18-2) carries an eight-game win streak into the final games of its month-long 21-game road swing. The Lady Lions start the week in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for a 6 p.m. contest at Southern Miss Wednesday.
 
Southeastern will then head north to Starkville, Mississippi to compete in the Bulldog Invitational. The Lady Lions will face host Mississippi State Thursday at 6:30 p.m. SLU continues tournament play versus Omaha at 10 a.m. and two-time defending national champion Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Southeastern closes the tournament Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. contest versus East Tennessee State.
 
The Lion golf team will compete in its second tournament of the spring this week. SLU will be in Sugar Land, Texas to participate in the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
 
The SLU tennis team (3-4) opens a four-match home stand this week. The Lions welcome Bradley for a noon match Saturday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The Southeastern beach volleyball team (3-6) will head to Houston, Texas this week to compete in the Southland Conference Mid-Year Event. The Lions will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (9 a.m.) and Boise State (1 p.m.) Saturday, before closing the tournament with Sunday matches versus San Jose State (9 a.m.) and HCU (1 p.m.) Sunday.
 
On The Air
The pre-championship round games at the Southland Conference Basketball Tournament and Stevic's showing at the NCAA Indoor Championships will be televised on ESPN+. The men's basketball championship game will air on ESPN2 with the women's championship contest will be broadcast on ESPNU.
 
Should either the Lions or the Lady Lions advance to the SLC Tournament championship game, the finals will air on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM.
 
Thursday's softball contest, as well as Saturday and Sunday's baseball games will be televised on SEC Network+.
 
This week's baseball series at Auburn is scheduled to be heard online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn apps. The TuneIn app is compatible with the Apple CarPlay software available in most modern automobiles.
