Krolczyk, Ladner Claim Southland Weekly Honors

Lady Lion duo was key in 3-1 week for SLU

HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a 3-1 record last week, junior catcher/infielder Bailey Krolczyk and senior pitcher KK Ladner were named the Southland Conference Players of the Week in an announcement from the league office Monday.

Krolczyk is the third Lady Lion to be named SLC Hitter of the Week this season, joining teammates Lexi Johnson (Feb. 13, Feb. 20) and Maria Detillier (March 13). Ladner joins fellow pitcher Cera Blanchard (Feb. 13) as the two conference Pitcher of the Week honorees this spring.

Krolczyk hit .545 with a home run, a triple, a double, four RBI and a 1.091 slugging percentage in the four games last week. She opened the week with a 2-for-3 showing in a 4-2 win over ULM Wednesday. In Friday's 5-2 win in the series opener versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, she hit the game-tying two-run single. She added an RBI triple in the 7-3 victory in the nightcap and hit a solo home run in Saturday's series finale.

The Corpus Christi, Texas native leads the team and ranks third in the Southland with a .400 batting average. Krolczyk also ranks among the SLC leaders in slugging percentage (.667, 2nd), OPS (1.079, 1st), runs scored (20, 10th), hits (36, 3rd), RBI (22, 9th), doubles (7, 6th) and home runs (5, 3rd).

Ladner continued her dominance in the circle, finishing 2-0 on the week with a 1.11 ERA, 24 strikeouts in 12.2 innings pitched and held the Warhawks and Islanders to a .136 opposing batting average. She struck out seven in 2.2 innings of relief Wednesday versus ULM and fanned 14 in Friday's series-opening win over TAMU-CC. She capped the week with four scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's series finale.

The Kiln, Mississippi native is 8-1 in the circle and leads the Southland in ERA (1.34), opposing batting average (.187) and strikeouts (102), while also ranking fourth in the league in wins.

Krolczyk, Ladner and the Lady Lions will return to action Tuesday, traveling to Alcorn State for a 2 p.m. doubleheader in Lorman, Mississippi.
