HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team will return to action this week, competing in The Big Texan at the Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, Texas.
The tournament opens with the first two rounds on Monday at 8 a.m. with the final 18 holes set for Tuesday at 8 a.m. Live scoring, provided by tournament host UT Rio Grande Valley, will be accessible via the men's golf schedule page at
www.LionSports.net.
In addition to host UTRGV, SLU will be joined in the field by Southland Conference foes HCU, New Orleans, Texas A&M-Commerce and UIW. The field also includes Stephen F. Austin, Tarleton State, Texas Southern, Odessa College, Midland College, Ranger College and Schreiner University. Individuals from TCU and Texas Tech will also participate.
Southeastern will be back on the course for the first time in three weeks. The Lions finished fifth at the HCU/Colin Montgomerie Invitational earlier this month.
Charlie Forster finished eighth with a tournament score of seven-under par, while
Michael Landry (-3, 16
th) joined him in the top 20.
Forster boasts a team-best 71.56 stroke average for the 2022-23 season. He'll be joined in Kerrville by Landry (74.39),
Grayson Glorioso (74.33),
Patrick Blaum (77.33) and
Cameron Mobley (77.60).
Following the trip to Texas, SLU will next head to Tunica, Mississippi to compete in the Tunica National Intercollegiate April 17-18. The tournament will be the final tune-up before the Lions' defense of their SLC championship the next week.
