HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball, softball and football teams will compete in Super Lion Saturday, while the tennis, golf, track and beach volleyball teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
Fresh off a series win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to open Southland Conference play, the Southeastern baseball team (14-10, 2-1 SLC) has five games on tap this week. On Tuesday, the Lions head to South Alabama for a 6:30 p.m. contest to close a five-game road swing.
 
SLU returns home Wednesday to host Mississippi Valley State at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Southeastern then opens the home portion of its conference schedule, welcoming UIW for a three-game series. The series opens Friday at 6 p.m., continues Super Lion Saturday at 6 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Friday will be Hat Day at the Pat with the first 200 SLU students receiving a Lion baseball cap. General admission tickets are available for $5 every Friday during the season. Fans will have a chance to win prizes by playing Baseball Bingo every home Saturday at the Pat. All military personnel (active and veterans) will receive free admission every Sunday with a military ID.
 
The SLU softball team (25-8, 4-2 SLC) also has five games on tap this week. The Lady Lions travel to Alcorn State Tuesday for a 2 p.m. nonconference doubleheader. Southeastern opens a three-game league series with Texas A&M-Commerce with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday. Fans will have the opportunity to spin the prize wheel and enjoy postgame fireworks at Friday's game.
 
The series closes with a noon contest Saturday. Fans will have a chance to win prizes by playing Bingo at the Ballpark and kids will have a chance to run the bases postgame.
 
The Lion football team will close out spring practice on Super Lion Saturday with the Spring Showcase at 2 p.m. at Strawberry Stadium. SLU, one of three teams nationally to be ranked in each of the past four years, are the defending Southland Conference champions and have made the FCS playoffs three of the past four years.
 
The Southeastern tennis team (6-7, 0-2 SLC) hosts a pair of league matches this week, welcoming McNeese Friday and Lamar Sunday. First serve for both matches is set for 10 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
The SLU men's golf squad will return to the course this week. The Lions will be in Kerrville, Texas to compete in The Big Texan Monday and Tuesday.
 
The Lion and Lady Lion track and field teams will compete in the prestigious Texas Relays this week. The meet runs Wednesday through Saturday in Austin, Texas.
 
The Southeastern beach volleyball team (5-15, 2-4 SLC) will be back at home this week. The Beach Lions welcome William Carey for a 5 p.m. match Tuesday at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex.

All of this week's baseball action and the softball series versus Texas A&M-Commerce will be televised on ESPN+. The 2023 edition of Inside Southeastern Baseball with Matt Riser continues Monday at noon from the patio at Cate Street Seafood Station. Riser will join co-host Allen Waddell at lunchtime every Monday during the season for the 60-minute show, talking the latest in Southeastern baseball. Cate Street Seafood Station is located at 308 S. Cate Street, next to the railroad tracks in downtown Hammond. The show can be heard online at www.LionSports.net/listenlive and via both the Lions Gameday Experience and TuneIn apps.
