SLU Set to Face New Orleans, Tulane in Elmwood

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University Beach Volleyball team will take the short trip down I-55 and west on I-10 on Thursday to Jefferson Parish to take part in the Bayou Beach Duals with matches against New Orleans and event host Tulane at the White Sands Volleyball Courts in Elmwood.

The Lady Lions (5-13) are coming off of a 1-3 weekend at the Southeastern Sugar Beach Slam. SLU earned an important in-conference win over the weekend, defeating Nicholls State in four of the five scoring contests to pick up a victory which could be helpful for Southeastern come postseason time. SLU dropped the final three matches of the event, however, including an in-conference defeat the Lady Lions will look to avenge on Thursday.

SLU's first match on Thursday will be that rematch with Southland Conference-foe New Orleans. The Privateers (10-6) went 3-1 over the weekend in Youngsville, picking up a split of two matches against Texas A&M-Kingsville while knocking off UTEP and the Lady Lions. This will be the second of three scheduled matches between Southeastern and UNO this season, the final meet-up of the regular season coming at UNO's multi-team event which will close out the regular season for SLU.

The host Green Wave (11-5) are coming off a 1-4 weekend at the very tough March to May event in Gulf Shores, Ala. hosted by Alabama-Birmingham. Of their five matches over the weekend, Tulane faced three teams ranked in the top-10 - #4 Florida State, #5 Loyola Marymount, and #10 Georgia State, dropping all three of those matches, though they did take Georgia State to the limit in their final match of the weekend, falling 3-2. Tulane's lone win on the weekend came against Mercer by a 3-2 result on Sunday morning.

Opening serve of Thursday's match against UNO is set for 2:30 p.m. while the match against Tulane will start immediately after at 4:30 p.m. with all matches of the Bayou Beach Duals being played at the White Sands Volleyball Courts. All matches will be live streamed on YouTube.
