Southeastern Heads to FAMU for Midweek Contest

SLU (12-2) takes on Rattlers Wednesday at 4 p.m.

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will continue its 21-game road swing Wednesday, traveling to Florida A&M for a 4 p.m. (Central) contest.
 
Southeastern (12-2) and the host Rattlers (6-9) will be meeting for the second time in 2023, as the Lady Lions earned a 9-0 win on Feb. 19 at the Mardi Gras Mambo. Live stats for the game, provided by the hosts, will be accessible via the softball schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
The Lady Lions are coming off a 3-2 weekend at the Easton Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Cera Blanchard, Bailey Krolczyk and Maddie Watson were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts in wins over Indiana State and Kennesaw State.
 
Southeastern enters Wednesday's contest with a .346 team batting average and features four hitters with a .400 batting average or higher. Krolczyk leads the team with a .441 batting average, while Lexi Johnson, Audrey Greely and Cam Goodman are each hitting .400.
 
Johnson, Greely, Maria Detillier and Madison Rayner share team-high honors with two home runs each. Johnson and Rayner each have two triples, while Maddie Leal leads the team with three doubles. Johnson also has a team-high 15 RBI and 10 runs scored.
 
Blanchard (6-0, 0.80 ERA, 1 save) and KK Ladner (2-1, 1.02 ERA) have been the top pitchers for a SLU pitching staff that has a 1.83 team ERA. Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (2-0, 1.45 ERA), Ellie DuBois (0-0, 1.11 ERA), Alyssa Romano (0-0, 2.80 ERA), Chyanne Ellett (1-1, 9.00 ERA), Leah Marshall (1-0, 1.62 ERA) and Lainee Bailey (0-0, 6.46 ERA) have all seen action in the circle for the Lady Lions.
 
SLU will face a FAMU lineup that is hitting .254 as a team. Mia Blasingame is hitting .375 to lead the Rattlers, while Melkayla Irvis and Destiny Cuevas have seven RBI apiece. Nadia Zenteno (2-3, 4.03 ERA), Cris'Deona Beasley (3-2, 4.25 ERA) and Lauryn Peppers (1-4, 7.75 ERA) have split time in the circle for Florida A&M.
 
Following Wednesday's game, Southeastern will remain in the Sunshine State to compete in The Spring Games in Madeira Beach, Florida. SLU's tournament slate includes games versus UAlbany (Friday, 11:30 a.m.), Georgetown (Friday, 2 p.m.), Central Michigan (Saturday, 9 a.m.), Yale (Saturday, 11:30 a.m.) and LIU (Sunday, 10:30 a.m.).
