Insani Claims Southland Weekly Honors

SLU senior is 4-0 in singles play this spring

HAMMOND, La.  – After remaining undefeated in singles play to start the spring season, Southeastern Louisiana University senior Putri Insani was named the Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week in an announcement from the league office Tuesday.

Insani received her second weekly honor during her time in Hammond, having previously taken home the award on March 26, 2019 as a true freshman.

The Jakarta, Indonesia native's most impressive singles victory of the spring season thus far came Saturday at undefeated South Alabama. On the No. 1 singles court, she handed USA's Luminita Tutunaru her first singles loss of the spring in eight matches with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory.

For the spring, Insani – a three-time All-Southland performer – is 4-0 on the top singles court, while she and Flory Bierma (2-2) have won their last two doubles matches on No. 1.

Insani and the Lions (1-3) will return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. nonconference road match at Southern in Baton Rouge.
