HAMMOND, La. – The back-to-back Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University indoor volleyball team will find out its NCAA Tournament destination, while the SLU basketball teams will continue nonconference play during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Lady Lion volleyball team (28-4) extended its winning streak to 22 matches with its 3-0 win over host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the SLC Tournament championship match to earn its second straight berth in the NCAA Tournament. SLU, which is enjoying one of the dominant campaigns by a Southeastern team in any sport, will find out its postseason opponent and location on the NCAA Division I Volleyball Selection Show, scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. on ESPNU.
The Southeastern men's basketball team (1-3) will conclude a challenging five-game road swing this week. The Lions will be in Niceville, Florida on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Emerald Coast Classic. SLU will face Western Michigan at 1:30 p.m. Friday and depending on Friday's results, will take on either Mercer or Tennessee State Saturday at a to-be determined time.
The SLU women's basketball team (2-2) continues its four-game home stand this week, hosting Jackson State Monday at noon and Mobile Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Pride Roofing University Center. Allasia Washington (Monday) and Arianna Patton (Saturday) are this week's Spotlight Players of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring that day's Spotlight Player of the Game, courtesy of PRIDE.
