HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University celebrates Homecoming during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The reigning Southland Conference champion Southeastern football team (0-6, 0-2 SLC) will host league rival Lamar in a 3 p.m. Homecoming game Saturday in Strawberry Stadium. The annual Homecoming parade will roll through campus at 11:30 a.m. and the 2023 SLU Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime. First Guaranty Bank will be the game sponsor for the clash between Southeastern and visiting LU.
The red-hot reigning SLC champion SLU volleyball team (16-4, 7-1 SLC) heads into the week riding a 10-match winning streak. The Lady Lions start the week on the road, traveling to Lamar Thursday at 6 p.m. Southeastern will have an opportunity to avenge its lone league loss of the year Saturday, when Northwestern State visits the Pride Roofing University Center for an 11 a.m. contest.
The Lady Lion soccer team (4-9, 2-4 SLC) will hold its second annual "Pink Out" in conjunction with its 7 p.m. Southland Conference game versus HCU Friday in Strawberry Stadium. The Lady Lions will don their pink jerseys in honor of the fight against breast cancer.
Fresh off a strong showing at last week's Lion Up Invitational, the SLU men's and women's cross country teams will compete in its final tune-up for the SLC Championships. The Lions and Lady Lions will head to College Station, Texas to take part in the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M. The men's race is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. with the women's race following at 9:15 a.m.
The Southeastern softball team will continue its fall exhibition schedule with another 10-inning scrimmage. The Lady Lions welcome Holmes Community College to North Oak Park Wednesday at 5 p.m.
The SLU men's and women's basketball seasons will tip off in November, but the Lions and Lady Lions will take part in the 2023-24 Southland Conference Basketball Media Day Tuesday at the Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana. SLC Media Day will air on ESPN+ starting at 10 a.m. with Southeastern's segment scheduled for 11:58 a.m.
The men's basketball team will be represented by head coach David Kiefer and guard Roscoe Eastmond. Representing the reigning SLC regular season and tournament champion women's basketball program will be 2022-23 Southland Coach of the Year Ayla Guzzardo and 2022-23 SLC Tournament MVP Hailey Giaratano.

th Annual Homecoming Golf Scramble is set for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 13 at Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond. Entrees are $150 for individuals and $600 for teams of four. Participants will receive a tee gift and lunch. Online registration is available at

The Southeastern football game versus Lamar can also be heard on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Friday's soccer game and Saturday's volleyball match can also be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM.
The 2023 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo continues Monday at 7 p.m. at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr.).
