Glorioso Posts Top-10 Finish to Highlight SLU Performance at Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate

Southeastern senior fires career-low 68 to finish tournament seven-under par

JONESBORO, Ark. – Southeastern Louisiana University senior Grayson Glorioso finished in a tie for ninth place at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Tuesday at the RidgePointe Country Club.

Glorioso shot a SLU career-low round of 68 (-4) Tuesday to finish with a score of 209 (-7) over 54 holes. The Metairie, Louisiana native has been Southeastern's top finisher in each of its three tournaments this fall and finished fifth among the field with 18 birdies on the week.

"We were extremely proud of Grayson's performance this week," Southeastern head coach Lawrence Allan commented. "His scores could've been even lower yesterday, especially in the second round. But he bounced back with his best round of his career today, so we're really pleased with his level of play."

Lexton Ford, who was third in the field with a score of -2 on par-3 holes this week, was the next highest finisher for the Lions, finishing in a tie for 53rd (+4). Landen East (+7, T64th), Patrick Blaum (+6, T70th) and Ethan Dial (+28, 88th) rounded out the SLU showing, as the team finished 13th with a three-round score of 876 (+12).

"We've been some young guys some valuable tournament experience," Allan said. "The lessons their learning will only be a positive moving forward. Today wasn't our best day, so we have to concentrate on finishing stronger."

Each of Southeastern's top four finishers had at least one round of par of better. Glorioso was under par for all three rounds on the way to his first top-10 individual finish as a Lion.

Host Arkansas State won the team title by 13 strokes over runner-up Memphis, finishing 47-under par over 54 holes. Jacksonville State's Erik Jansson (-16) maintained his day one lead to take home individual medalist honors.

This week's tournament was the third in as many weeks for Southeastern. SLU will now take a week off from competition before heading to Killen, Alabama for the TVA Community Credit Union Invitational Oct. 16-17.

"We've played three weeks in a row, so a week off will be helpful," Allen stated. "We'll have some qualifying rounds to determine our five for the next tournament. We just want to build on the positives and continue to get better each time out."

Before that, Southeastern will host the 30th Annual Homecoming Golf Scramble Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m. at Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond. Entrees are $150 for individuals and $600 for teams of four. Participants will receive a tee gift and lunch.
