HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University soccer team competes in the Southland Conference Tournament, the indoor volleyball team looks to claim sole possession of the league lead, while the football, tennis and baseball teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU soccer team (6-10-1) will be the sixth seed in the SLC Tournament, which runs Wednesday through Sunday in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Lady Lions will face McNeese in the tournament's first game Wednesday at 1 p.m. Should Southeastern get past the Cowgirls, it will face the winner of Wednesday's first round match between Texas A&M-Commerce and HCU in Friday's semifinals at 4 p.m.
Friday's semifinal winners will face off Sunday at 1 p.m. in the championship match. The winner of the championship match will receive the SLC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Southeastern will be looking for its fifth trip to the NCAA Championships and first since the 2020 season, played in the spring of 2021.
The biggest regular season match in recent Southeastern volleyball history is set for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pride Roofing University Center. Winners of their last 16 matches, the Lady Lions (22-4, 13-1 SLC) will welcome conference co-leader Texas A&M-Corpus Christi – winners of 12 straight in its own right – with the outright possession of the top spot in the Southland at stake.
SLU welcomes UIW Saturday at 11 a.m. to close out the week's action. Saturday is the Alumni match and all former Lady Lions are invited to come back and be recognized, as the Lions take on the Cardinals.
The Lion football team (1-7, 1-3 SLC) opens the final month of the season, hosting McNeese Saturday at 3 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Former members of the football program that are members of the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame will be recognized at halftime of the SLU-McNeese contest. Tangi Tourism is Saturday's Game Sponsor.
The SLU tennis team will close out its fall schedule this week. Southeastern will host the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Southeastern baseball team will head to Trustman Park in Pearl, Mississippi to face ULM in a 16-inning exhibition Sunday at 2 p.m.

All of this week's football, volleyball and soccer action will be televised on ESPN+. Saturday's football game can be heard live on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Thursday's volleyball match can also be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM.
The 2023 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo continues Monday at 7 p.m. at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr.). The weekly show will air each Monday during the football season on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Carla Tate of Tangi Tourism will be featured as Monday's Community Spotlight guest. Prior to the 7 p.m. show, a 6 p.m. Halloween costume contest will be held featuring Halloween giveaways and an appearance by the Southeastern spirit squads.
