HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University cross country teams compete in the Southland Conference Championships, while the indoor volleyball, soccer, golf, tennis, baseball and softball teams will all be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU men's and women's cross country teams will be in San Antonio, Texas Friday for the SLC meet, hosted by UIW. The women's race opens the day's action at 8:30 a.m. with the men's race following at 9:30 a.m.
The red-hot Lady Lion volleyball team (20-4, 11-1 SLC) carries a 14-match winning streak into this week's action. Southeastern closes out a three-match road swing with a 6:30 p.m. match at New Orleans Tuesday. Thursday will see Nicholls visit the Pride Roofing University Center for a 6:30 p.m. match. Thursday will be Greek Night in the Pride Roofing University Center. All Southeastern fraternities and sororities are invited to come cheer on the Lady Lions versus the Colonels.
The Southeastern soccer team (6-9-1, 4-4-1 SLC) carries a four-match unbeaten streak of its own into its regular season finale this week. The Lady Lions have already clinched a spot in next month's Southland Tournament and will close out the regular season with a 7 p.m. match Friday at Lamar.
The SLU golf team will close out the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule this week. Southeastern will head down to Mathews, Louisiana to compete in the LaTour Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday. Tee time for both days is set for 8:30 a.m.
The Lion tennis team also continues its fall season this week. SLU will travel up to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to compete in the USM Invitational, which runs Friday through Sunday.
The Southeastern baseball team will also be in Mississippi over the weekend. The Lions will face Samford in a 2 p.m. fall exhibition Sunday at MGM Park in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The SLU softball team will close out its fall exhibition schedule with a trio of 10-inning scrimmages this week. Southeastern hosts Holmes Community College Monday at 5 p.m., travels to UL Lafayette for a 6 p.m. contest Wednesday and welcomes Jones College Friday at 5 p.m.
On the Air
All of this week's volleyball and soccer action will be televised on ESPN+. Thursday's volleyball match can also be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU 90.9 FM.
The 2023 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo continues Monday at 7 p.m. at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux (305 CM Fagan Dr.). The weekly show will air each Monday during the football season on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/WFPR 1400 AM. Tommy Masaracchia of Tope La Restaurant will be featured as Monday's Community Spotlight guest.
