HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University tennis team opens the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule, the men's and women's basketball teams play Southland Conference and in-state foe New Orleans in a home-and-home, while the track and field teams continue indoor competition during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU tennis team will open its spring campaign at home. The Lions will welcome LSU Alexandria to the Southeastern Tennis Complex Friday at noon.
 
The Southeastern men's basketball team (11-9, 5-2 SLC) heads into the week tied with Nicholls atop the Southland Conference standings, while the Lady Lions (10-7, 5-2 SLC) are a game behind league co-leaders Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M-Commerce – both of which SLU handed their lone league losses.
 
The week's action opens with New Orleans visiting the University Center Thursday. The women's game tips off at 5 p.m. and the first 250 fans will receive a pink towel in honor of breast cancer awareness. Alexius Horne is the Spotlight Player of the Game and the first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native courtesy of PRIDE.
 
The first 250 fans at Thursday's 7:30 p.m. men's contest will receive an SLU headband. Southeastern returns the trip to UNO Saturday with the women's game set for 2 p.m. and the men's contest following at 4 p.m.
 
The Southeastern men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the third meet of the indoor season this week. The Lions and Lady Lions will travel to Lake Charles, Louisiana Friday to compete at the McNeese College Indoor meet.

This week's basketball games will all air on ESPN+.
 
The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer will air Tuesday at 7 p.m. on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM. Airing weekly on Tuesdays through Feb. 21 from Rainbow Daiquiris (14384 W. Thomas St.), the hour-long show will be hosted by Kiefer and Mark Willoughby and cover all things Lion Basketball.
