Forster Claims Individual Medalist Honors at SIUE Dolenc Invitational

Sophomore eagles first playoff hole to win tournament; SLU climbs to fifth in team standings with low round of the day

Final Results

MADISON, Ill. – Southeastern Louisiana University sophomore Charlie Forster eagled the first playoff hole to claim individual medalist honors at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational Tuesday at Gateway Golf Links.

Forster, a native of Winchester, England, birdied four of the last five holes – including the last three – in the final round on the way to carding a 66 – matching the lowest individual score of the tournament. His closing stretch put him in a tie with Bradley's Josh Kirkham for the individual lead with a tournament score of 206 (-7).

Forster eagled the par-five, 545-yard 18th hole to end the playoff on the first hole. He has been SLU's top finisher in both tournaments this fall, after posting a 10th-place showing at last week's Grover Page Classic. Forster is the first Lion to earn individual medalist honors since teammate Michael Landry won the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in March and brings home the first trophy under first-year head coach Lawrence Allan.

Forster's showing highlighted a banner performance for SLU, which matched the low team score of the day with a 285 (+1) – tied for the second-lowest round of the tournament. As a result, Southeastern vaulted six spots in the team standings over the final round to finish tied for fifth with a tournament score of 877 (+25)

Landry (T20th, +6 for the tournament) carded a one-over 72 Tuesday, while teammate Grayson Glorioso (T26th, +8) closed out the tournament with an even par 71. Both Patrick Blaum (T75th, +18) and Cameron Mobley (T89th, +23) shot their low rounds of the week, carding matching 76's Tuesday for SLU.

Idaho won team medalist accolades, finishing the tournament with a score of 865 (+13). The Vandals bested runner up Weber State by two strokes.

Southeastern will return to action at next month's Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, scheduled for Oct. 10-11 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
