MADISON, Ill. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team carded the second-lowest second round among the 16-team field to highlight its day one performance at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational Monday at Gateway Gold Links.
SLU bounced back from a tough first round to post a team score of six-over par 290 for round two with only New Orleans (286, +2) carding a lower round two. For the day, the Lions finished with a two-round score of 592 (+24) to sit in 11
th place.
However, Southeastern has a great opportunity heading into Tuesday's final round to move up the final standings. Just six strokes separate SLU from third-place Bradley after the initial 36 holes. Idaho and Weber State share the day one team lead after shooting eight-over par 576.
Charlie Forster carded a three-under par round two and finished the day with a two-round score of 140 to lead Southeastern. The Winchester, England sits in third place on the individual leaderboard and trails day one leader Isaac Buerger of Weber State by four strokes.
Forster was one of two Lions to shoot under par in the second round, as
Michael Landry carded a 70 in the second round and is in a tie for 22
nd (+5) after 36 holes. The rest of the Lion contingent includes
Grayson Glorioso (T42nd, +8),
Patrick Blaum (T73rd, +13) and
Cameron Mobley (90
