HAMMOND, La. – The defending Southland Conference champion Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team will open its 2022-23 schedule at the Grover Page Classic Monday and Tuesday at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tennessee.
 
The first 36 holes are scheduled for Monday with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. The final round is set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. A link to live stats for the tournament, provided by host UT Martin, will be accessible via the golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.
 
Southeastern and UTM will be among a 16-team field tackling the 6,816-yard, par-72 course. The Lions and Skyhwawks will be joined by Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Central Arkansas, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Murray State, New Orleans, Nicholls, North Alabama, SIU Edwardsville, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech. Three individuals from Middle Tennessee State will round out the field.
 
This week's tournament will be SLU's first under head coach Lawrence Allan. The Alva, Scotland native returns to oversee a program for which he was a three-time All-Southland Conference performer from 2012-16.
 
Allan will be leading a veteran team, as the Lions return four starters from last season's SLC championship roster. Among that group is the All-Southland trio of Charlie Forster (74.22 stroke average in 2021-22), Cameron Mobley (74.58) and league Newcomer of the Year Michael Landry (75.00).
 
The trip to Tennessee will mark the first of four fall tournaments for Southeastern. Next up, SLU heads to Madison, Illinois to compete in the Derek Dolenc Invitational Sept. 26-27.
