HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University volleyball team opens the regular season, the soccer team continues its road swing, Southeastern Athletics hosts Lionpawlooza and the Football Season Ticket Party, while Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo debuts during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Southeastern volleyball team opens the season at the Katrinka Crawford Invitational in Beaumont, Texas. The Lady Lions will face Tulane (1 p.m.) and Prairie View (4 p.m.) Friday. Saturday will see SLU take on Idaho State at 1 p.m. to close its opening week.
 
The Lady Lion soccer team (0-1) will play its second straight road match to open the season this week. Southeastern travels to face Jackson State Friday at 1 p.m.
 
SLU Athletics will host Lionpawlooza Friday in conjunction with the Hammond Downtown Development District's Hot August Night. The event will feature a pep rally at the main DDD stage. The Lion football team will march through downtown beginning at 5:30 p.m. before the pep rally at 6 p.m. featuring comments from SLU head coach Frank Scelfo.
 
Following the pep rally, fans will have the opportunity to get their 2022 schedule posters autographed by members of the football team. Fans will also have the chance to spin the prize wheel and win prizes courtesy of Southeastern Athletics.
 
Southeastern football season ticket holders can pick up their tickets for the upcoming 2022 season at the annual Season Ticket Pickup Party Saturday at Strawberry Stadium.
 
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. – noon in conjunction with the No. 16/17 Lions' 9 a.m. practice that morning. SLU supporters the Dukes of Hammond will host a tailgate event in the grassy area adjacent to the Dugas Center for Southeastern Athletics.
 
On The Air
The 2022 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo debuts Sunday. The show will air weekly on the radio home of SLU Football - Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM. Hosted by Scelfo and Allen Waddell, the hour-long show will feature the latest on all things Lion Football.
 
The debut episode is set for 3 p.m. at Gnarly Barley Brewing (1709 Corbin Rd.) in Hammond. Pour House Pizza and Beer Garden (505 W. Thomas St.) will serve as the host for the remainder of the season. With the Monday after the season opener doubling as Labor Day, the first show at Pour House will be Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. Starting Sept. 12, the show will air from Pour House on Mondays at 7 p.m. through Nov. 21.
