HAMMOND, La. – NJCAA All-American outfielder Ka'Lyn Watson will continue her academic and athletic endeavors as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana University softball program, SLU head coach Rick Fremin announced Friday.
 
Watson is the 10^th member of the 2023 signing class. The Missouri City, Texas native will have two years of eligibility remaining after opening her collegiate career at McLennan Community College.
 
Watson is the second McLennan CC product to join the Southeastern program in the past two years, as former and future teammate Bailey Krolczyk was the first team All-Southland Conference catcher this spring in her debut season in Hammond.
 
"Ka'Lyn is an electric player both offensively and defensively," Fremin commented. "She will bring speed and power to our lineup and help us continue to have one of the nation's top offenses."
 
Watson comes to SLU after a sophomore season that saw her earn third team All-America notice, as well as all-region and all-conference recognition. She hit .427 with 16 doubles, four triples, nine home runs, 49 RBI, 40 stolen bases and 75 runs scored in 2022.
 
Watson prepped at Episcopal High School in Houston. She posted a .585 batting average as a senior at EHS.
 
Watson and her future teammates will open the 2023 season at home, hosting Creighton at 3 p.m. Feb. 10 to open the Lion Classic at North Oak Park. The fall exhibition schedule opens with a Sept. 30 contest versus LSU Eunice at 5 p.m. at North Oak Park.
