Insani Repeats as Southland All-Academic Selection

SLU junior recognized for excellence in the classroom and on the court

HAMMOND, La. – After excelling on the court and in the classroom, Southeastern Louisiana University junior Putri Insani was named to the 2021-22 Southland Conference Women's Tennis All-Academic Teams, which were released by the league office on Thursday.

Insani, who entered the spring semester with a 3.77 grade point average as an accounting major, earned a spot on the second team for the first time in school history.

The Jakarta, Indonesia native was named second team All-Southland at No. 1 singles last month. It was her third all-conference singles nod, after earning honorable mention accolades in 2019 and third team recognition in 2021.

Insani finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record, including a 4-2 mark versus Southland competition. She picked up singles victories versus Northwestern State, Nicholls, UIW and McNeese during league play.

In doubles play, she teamed with Flory Bierma to earn All-Southland honors at No. 1 doubles. The SLU finished the spring with a 9-3 mark and a 3-1 league tally, taking down Nicholls, UIW and McNeese in Southland matches.

To be eligible for inclusion on the Southland All-Academic Teams, student-athletes must be in their second season at their current institution and maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher. The teams were selected by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and academic advisors. Voters were not allowed to vote for their school's nominees.
