HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will close out the road portion of its 2021-22 women's tennis regular season schedule with a pair of matches this weekend.
The Lions (2-14, 1-4 Southland) will end its Southland Conference slate at New Orleans (10-8, 3-2 Southland) Saturday at noon. SLU then heads to Alcorn State (4-13) Sunday for an 11 a.m. match in Lorman, Mississippi.
Southeastern is led by
Putri Insani. The Jakarta, Indonesia native is 6-3 on the No. 1 singles court, including 4-1 versus league competition.
Insani and teammate
Flory Bierma comprise the Lions' top doubles tandem. The SLU duo (8-2, 3-0 SLC) head into the weekend with a six-match win streak on the feature doubles court.
Lina Hohnhold (12-1, 5-0 SLC) has the best singles record for New Orleans, which has won two straight heading into Saturday's match. Ank Vullings and Estelle Vanthier have a team-high eight doubles wins this spring.
Individual numbers are not accessible for Alcorn State. SLU will be looking to avenge a 4-3 loss to the Lady Braves back on Feb. 15 in Hammond.
Following this week's action, Southeastern hosts Southern next Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex in the Lions' regular season finale.
