JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team shut out Jacksonville, 5-0, Friday afternoon on the way to splitting a pair of contests at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
Southeastern dropped its first dual of the day, 4-1, to host North Florida (16-10).
 
The Beach Lions fell in three sets at both No. 2 and No. 4 before Jolie Hidalgo and Meagan Scuderi earned a point in the first flight, winning 25-23, 21-16. 
 
Against Jacksonville (9-18), the Beach Lions (10-14) picked up straight-set victories in all but the second flight.
 
Mabry Ward and Eryn Wilks earned a 21-12, 21-16 win at No. 5, picking up the first point of the dual. Avery Carroll and Ariana Hebert followed with a 21-17, 21-12 victory in the fourth flight.
 
Hidalgo and Scuderi combined for a 21-15, 21-15 at No. 1, solidifying the team win for SLU. Hannah Brewer and Jackie McGee edged out their opponents at No. 3 for a 26-24, 21-19 victory. Hanah Barosh and Michelle Mirarchi finished off the sweep with a 20-22, 21-17, 15-10 win in the second flight.
 
The action moves across town Saturday to the campus of Jacksonville University. SLU will face the host Dolphins at 11 a.m., turning right around at 1 p.m. to face North Florida.
