HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University will celebrate Super Lion Saturday to highlight this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU football team will close out spring practice with the annual Spring Game at 10:30 a.m. as part of Super Lion Saturday, a celebration of all things Southeastern Athletics, in Strawberry Stadium.
Former Lions Cole Kelley, Austin Mitchell, Nolan Givan, Alexis Ramos, Rendon Miles-Character, Ethan McMullan, Tim Wilson Jr., Brennon Dingle, Chinedu Ogbonna and Sterrling Fisher will participate in SLU Football Pro Day Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the New Orleans Saints Indoor Training Facility in Metairie, Louisiana. The event is not open to the general public.
After taking two of three at UIW last weekend, the Southeastern baseball team (10-18, 2-4 Southland) has five games on tap this week, starting with a 6:30 p.m. contest Tuesday at South Alabama. The Lions return home Wednesday to host Troy at 6 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
Fans are encouraged to Tailgate With the Lions prior to Wednesday's contest. Fans have the opportunity to win free Southeastern gear and enjoy yard games and music, as well as free food as supplies last.
SLU will then host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game Southland Conference series. The set opens Friday at 6 p.m., continues Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of Super Lion Saturday and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Lady Lion softball team (23-10, 3-0 SLC) will look to extend its five-game win streak with five more games on tap this week. Southeastern hosts Jackson State Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a nonconference doubleheader. Fans will be able to enjoy Fireworks at North Oak Park in conjunction with Tuesday's action.
SLU will open the road portion of its Southland schedule this week, traveling to McNeese. The series opens with a 6:30 p.m. contest Friday and concludes Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
The SLU tennis team (2-14, 1-4 SLC) will return to the courts this week. The Lions host Dillard Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. Saturday will see Southeastern close league play with a 1 p.m. Southland match at New Orleans.
The Southeastern beach volleyball team (9-13) heads to Jacksonville, Florida to participate in the Jacksonville Tournament Friday and Saturday. SLU will face North Florida Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m., as well as host Jacksonville Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m.
