HAMMOND, La. – The No. 4-seeded Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team matches up with No. 5-seeded Nicholls at 11 a.m. Friday in the opening round of the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship at Third Coast Volleyball Club in Houston, Texas.
 
In its second year, the tournament is a double-elimination event running Friday through Sunday with the winner advancing to the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships, May 6-8, in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Seeding for the event is based on the Pablo Beach Ranking system.
 
The SLU-Nicholls winner advances to play No. 1-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (18-12) later Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The loser matches up with the loser of the No. 2-seeded Houston Baptist (11-20) and No. 3-seeded New Orleans (19-13) dual at 11 a.m. Saturday.
 
Southeastern (11-19) has defeated Nicholls (1-23) in all three previous matchups this season.
 
The Beach Lions' top point producers this season are the duos of Jolie Hidalgo and Meagan Scuderi (20-10), Mabry Ward and Eryn Wilks (18-6), Hannah Barosh and Michelle Mirarchi (8-13), Hannah Brewer and Jackie McGee (8-13), and Avery Carroll and Ariana Hebert (6-6).
