HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will close out the nonconference position of its schedule Tuesday with a 3 p.m. game at Southern.
SLU (29-12) heads to Baton Rouge after a three-game Southland Conference series sweep at Nicholls last weekend.
Lexi Johnson was named SLC Hitter of the Week after batting .600 in the three victories.
Southeastern enters Tuesday's contest with a .326 team batting average.
Cam Goodman leads the team with a .426 batting average, followed by
Aeriyl Mass (.397),
Bailey Krolczyk (.351),
Madison Rayner (.350) and
Audrey Greely (.333). Mass, Rayner and Johnson share team-high honors with 28 runs scored.
Johnson paces the roster with seven home runs, while Rayner leads the Southland with 15 doubles and 38 RBI. Mass (25) and Goodman (23) sit in the top two spots on the league's stolen base leaderboard.
Heather Zumo (14-3, 2.45 ERA) is the ace of a Southeastern staff that has a 2.81 team earned run average.
KK Ladner (5-2, 2.91 ERA, 1 save), MC Comeaux (8-3, 3.93 ERA, 1 save),
Alyssa Romano (0-2, 2.07 ERA, 1 save) and
Ellie DuBois (0-1, 3.26 ERA, 1 save) have all recorded double-digit appearances in the circle for the Lady Lions.
Southern (10-27) is hitting .229 as a team. Alana Mark leads the Lady Jaguars with a .313 batting average, six home runs and 19 RBI.
SU has an 8.05 team ERA heading into Tuesday's contest. Raquel Latta (5-13, 6.62 ERA, 1 save), Julia York (4-8, 7.83 ERA) and Annelise Corona (1-6, 10.74 ERA, 2 saves) have split time in the circle for Southern.
Following Tuesday's contest, Southeastern will return home to host HBU for a three-game series at North Oak Park. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes Saturday at noon. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
