HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a series sweep at Nicholls, sophomore outfielder Lexi Johnson was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week in an announcement from the league office Tuesday.
 
Johnson is the fourth Southeastern player to receive conference weekly honors this season. The Reserve, Louisiana native joins teammates Audrey Greely (Feb. 22), Heather Zumo (March 8) and Cam Goodman (March 21).
 
Johnson hit .600 and collected five RBI in the series which saw SLU outscore the Colonels, 31-7, over the three games. In Friday's 11-2 win in the nightcap, Johnson tied a single-game school record with three doubles. Her three-run home run in Saturday's series finale was part of a six-run fifth inning that helped Southeastern enforce a mercy rule victory.
 
Johnson's seven home runs leads the team and ranks third in the Southland Conference. She also sits in the league's top 10 in slugging percentage (.566, 7^th), runs scored (28, 3^rd), RBI (27, 7^th), doubles (10, 4^th), triples (2, 4^th) and sacrifice flies (4, 1^st).
 
Southeastern (29-12, 7-2 SLC) wraps up nonconference play Tuesday, traveling to Southern for a 3 p.m. contest in Baton Rouge.
