HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Spring Hill College in tight fashion Tuesday, falling by identical 3-2 scores at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex.
 
In both ends of the doubleheader, three of the five flights went to a deciding third set. All four points SLU (2-7) earned combined over Spring Hill (7-4) were forced to a third set.
 
Jolie Hidalgo and Meagan Scuderi picked up a point in the second flight with an 18-21, 21-12, 16-14 win. SLU also picked up a point in the fifth with Mabry Ward and Eryn Wilks claiming victory, 21-23, 21-19, 17-15.
 
In the nightcap, Hidalgo and Scuderi moved up to the first flight. The Beach Lions' winningest duo (8-1) fought back from an early deficit for an 18-21, 21-17, 15-12 win. Ward and Wilks also proved victorious once again, improving to 5-0 as a pair with a 21-23, 21-19, 17-15 win.
 
Southeastern had narrow misses with Jackie McGee and Linsey Sackett in the opener's fourth flight, 21-17, 20-22, 15-8, and in the nightcap's clincher at No. 2 with Hannah Barosh and Hannah Brewer, 21-17, 16-21, 15-6.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern takes the weekend off from intercollegiate competition before returning to action, March 19-20, at the SFA Invitational #2. With five duals on the docket, the Beach Lions are slated to match up Mary Hardin-Baylor, Hendrix, host SFA, Abilene Christian and Central Arkansas in the two-day event.
