HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will open a seven-game home stand Tuesday, hosting Alcorn State for a 4 p.m. doubleheader at North Oak Park.

Southeastern has had nearly a week off after a whirlwind stretch to open March. Tuesday's games will serve as a tune-up for the open of Southland Conference play later this week.
 
The Lady Lions enter Tuesday's contest with a .317 team batting average. Cam Goodman leads the team with a .429 batting average, followed by Aeriyl Mass (.375), Madison Rayner (.354) and Bailey Krolczyk (.333). Mass has scored a team-high 20 runs, followed by Rayner and Lindsey Rizzo with 19 apiece.
 
Lexi Johnson has hit a team-high five home runs, while Rayner paces the squad with 10 doubles and 24 RBI. Mass and Goodman sit atop the Southland in stolen bases with 20 and 17, respectively.
 
Opponents are hitting .241 against a Southeastern pitching staff that carries a 3.12 earned run average. Heather Zumo (10-3, 2.28 ERA), KK Ladner (3-1, 3.50 ERA, 1 save), Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (5-3, 4.28 ERA, 1 save), Alyssa Romano (0-2, 2.58 ERA) and Ellie DuBois (0-1, 4.30 ERA, 1 save) all have been effective in the circle for SLU.
 
The Lady Lions will be facing an Alcorn State lineup that has a .284 team batting average. Kristian Edwards leads the Lady Braves with a .341 batting average and 18 RBI, while Kelsey Lockridge has a team-high two home runs.
 
Alcorn State enters Tuesday's games with a 6.16 team ERA. Brenn Ursin (3-6, 6.52 ERA), Lexi Veamoi (3-6, 5.29 ERA) and Kiri Parker (4-3, 4.41 ERA) are the top arms for the Lady Braves.
 
Following Tuesday's action, Southeastern will host UIW for a three-game series at North Oak Park to open Southland Conference play. The series begins with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes with a noon contest Saturday. All three games will be televised on ESPN+ and SLU will celebrate Alumni Weekend with all former Lady Lions invited to attend.
