HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will close out the home portion of its 2022 Southland Conference schedule this week with a pair of league matches this week at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (1-12, 0-2 Southland) will open the week's action with a 1 p.m. Friday match versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (15-2, 1-0 SLC). UIW (7-7, 1-1 SLC) comes to town Sunday for an 11 a.m. match.
Southeastern is led in singles play by
Putri Insani. The multi-time All-Southland performer is 4-2 on the No. 1 singles court and has won her last four matches.
Insani is also part of the Lions' top doubles tandem. The Jakarta, Indonesia native has teamed with
Flory Bierma for a 6-1 record on the No. 1 doubles court. The SLU duo has won five consecutive matches heading into this week's action.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi comes to town on a nine-match win streak. Leopoldine Boisseau has a team-best 14-2 singles record. She and Kateryna Rublevska have paired for an 11-1 record in doubles play to pace the Islanders.
UIW, which takes on Northwestern State Friday, does not have any individual stats available. Gargi Pawar was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Following this week's action, Southeastern will close out a three-match home stand with a 4 p.m. nonconference match next Wednesday, March 30 at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
