Box Score RUSTON, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team had its three-game win streak snapped Wednesday evening when it dropped a 2-1 decision to Louisiana Tech in nonconference action at Dr. Bundrick Field.
The defeat closed out an 11-game road swing for the Lady Lions (10-4). Louisiana Tech improved to 11-6 overall with the victory.
Bailey Krolczyk and Cameron Goodman led Southeastern at the plate with two hits apiece. Krolczyk had SLU's lone RBI, driving in
Madisen Blackford with a run-scoring double.
KK Ladner (1-1) took the loss in the circle for the Lady Lions, yielding the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Starters
Heather Zumo of Southeastern and Louisiana Tech's Emma Hutchinson held the opposing lineups at bay until the Lady Lions struck first in the top of the fourth inning. Consecutive doubles by Krolczyk and Blackford staked the Lady Lions to a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Techsters answered in their half of the fourth. A two-out RBI single by Sierra Sacco knotted the score.
Louisiana Tech took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth. A walk and a pair of bunt singles loaded the bases with one out. Olivia Ellingson lifted a fly ball deep enough to plate the eventual winning run.
Southeastern had no luck against Louisiana Tech reliever Lauren Menzina (1-1), who retired all eight Lady Lions she faced.
SLU will be back in action at North Oak Park this weekend, hosting Lion Classic II. Southeastern opens the tournament with a 3 p.m. contest versus Buffalo. All of this weekend's Lady Lion contests will be televised on ESPN+. Live stats for the entire tournament will be available at
