NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball swept through its three duals Saturday at the SFA Invitational II, defeating Mary Hardin-Baylor and Hendrix by identical 5-0 scores and holding on to knock off host Stephen F. Austin, 3-2.
 
Southeastern improved to 5-7 this season, going 3-0 in a single day for the second time in program history.
 
In the first dual of the day, the Beach Lions dominated UMHB (3-7). All five pairs won in straight sets, including Mabry Ward and Eryn Wilks (21-4, 21-7), Avery Caroll and Linsey Sackett (21-4, 21-11), Jolie Hidalgo and Meagan Scuderi (21-5, 21-4), Hannah Brewer and Jackie McGee (21-7, 21-8), and Hannah Barosh and Michelle Mirarchi (21-11, 21-14).
 
Three pairs picked up straight-set wins against Hendrix (8-3). Ward and Wilks won the fifth flight 21-10, 21-14. Barosh and Mirarchi were victorious in the second flight, 22-20, 20-15. Brewer and McGee won the third flight, 21-12, 22-20.
 
Against SFA (7-9), Southeastern went to the final dual of the day to earn the win. Ward and Wilks (8-0) remained undefeated as a pair, picking up a three-set win in the fifth flight. Tied, 1-1, Hidalgo and Scuderi (11-1) put SLU back on top with a win in straight sets in the first flight, 21-12, 21-18. The Beach Lions clinched the win over SFA in the third flight as Brewer and McGee (3-0) won in three sets.
 
UP NEXT
SLU will face Abilene Christian (1-6) at 8 a.m. Sunday followed by Central Arkansas (4-5) at 10 a.m. to wrap up their weekend competition.
