Southeastern Hosts NSU to Open Southland Play

First serve between SLU and visiting Lady Demons set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Southeastern Tennis Complex

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will open Southland Conference play Saturday, hosting Northwestern State at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The match between the Lady Lions (1-10) and the visiting Lady Demons (7-4) was originally scheduled for 11 a.m. Forecast morning temperatures near freezing pushed first serve back three hours.

Putri Insani (2-1) and Polina Paunova (2-3) lead Southeastern in singles victories. Insani has teamed with Flory Bierma for a team-best 5-1 record in doubles play.

Mariella Minetti leads Northwestern State with a 7-2 record in singles play. Ayu Ishibashi and Patrycja Polanska are a perfect 5-0 on the No. 3 doubles court.

Following Saturday's match, Southeastern will return home to host Southern at 4 p.m. Wednesday in nonconference action at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
