Southeastern Closes Road Swing at Louisiana Tech

Lady Lions travel to Ruston for 4 p.m. contest Wednesday

RUSTON, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will finish out an 11-game road swing on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. contest at Louisiana Tech.
 
Live stats for the game between the Lady Lions (10-3) and the host Lady Techsters (9-6) will be available at LouisianaTech.statbroadcast.com.
 
Southeastern heads to Ruston after a 4-1 weekend at last week's Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, Louisiana. SLU shutout Portland State, Lipscomb, Eastern Illinois and St. Thomas (MN) on the weekend with its lone loss coming at the hands of No. 2 Alabama.
 
The Lady Lions head into Wednesday's contest with a .320 team batting average. Madison Rayner leads the team with a .421 batting average, followed by Audrey Greely (.381), Cam Goodman (.379), Aeriyl Mass (.366) and Lindsey Rizzo (.320). Lexi Johnson has a team-high 12 runs scored, while Goodman (10) and Mass (eight) are the team's stolen base leaders for a SLU squad that has 29 steals.
 
Johnson leads the team with four home runs, while Maddie Watson has three to her credit. Rayner paces the squad with 12 RBI, while Johnson and Watson have 11 apiece. Rayner's seven doubles are also tops on the roster.
 
Southeastern has six shutout victories to its credit behind a staff that has a 2.82 team earned run average. Heather Zumo (5-0, 1.31 ERA) has been the team's ace, while Mary-Cathryn (MC) Comeaux (4-2, 4.07 ERA, 1 save), KK Ladner (1-0, 4.77 ERA), Ellie DuBois (0-1, 3.09 ERA, 1 save) and Alyssa Romano (0-0, 0.00 ERA) have all been effective in the circle for the Lady Lions.
 
Louisiana Tech, which plays at McNeese on Tuesday, also played the same field as SLU at last week's Mardi Gras Mambo. The Lady Techsters earned wins over St. Thomas, Eastern Illinois and Lipscomb, while falling to No. 2 Alabama and Portland State.
 
Louisiana Tech has a .262 team batting average with Sierra Sacco leading the way with a .347 batting average. Brooke Diaz and Madie Green lead the Lady Techsters with three home runs apiece, while Diaz has driven in 15 runs.
 
The Lady Techsters boast a 1.57 team earned run average. Audrey Pickett (6-2, 1.22 ERA), Emma Hutchinson (3-3, 2.13 ERA) and Lauren Menzina (0-1, 1.95 ERA) have split the work in the circle.
 
Following Wednesday's contest, SLU will return home to host Lion Classic II at North Oak Park. The tournament opens on Friday with Southeastern facing Buffalo at 3 p.m. All of the Lady Lions' tournament games this week will be on ESPN+ and live stats for every tournament game will be available at LionSports.net/sidearmstats/softball.
