HOUSTON, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team dropped four duals in team competition this past weekend at the HBU Tournament, falling to host HBU, 5-0, vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-2, vs. ULM, 4-1, and vs. New Orleans, 4-1, at Third Coast Volleyball Club.
 
SLU (0-4) returns home to host Texas A&M-Kingsville (4-0) in the first regular-season home event in program history. Action is slated to get underway at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex located in North Oak Park.
 
The Beach Lions dropped all five flights Friday against HBU. The No. 4 pairing of Linsey Sackett and Eryn Wilks forced their opponents to extra rallies in the opening set before ultimately falling, 26-24, 21-16. Southeastern's No. 2 pair of Jolie Hidalgo and Meagan Scuderi sent their matchup into a third set but came up short, 23-21, 13-21, 15-13.
 
Southeastern picked up its first points of the season against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Friday's second dual. Down 2-0 in the competition, the Beach Lions picked up wins in the second and fourth flights before falling to the Islanders in the flight.
 
Hidalgo and Scuderi claimed their point in the second by taking straight sets, 21-19, 21-16, against the pairing of Migle Mazurkeviciute and Shea Slusser. Avery Carroll and Mabry Ward picked up their point in the fourth with a three-set win, 21-11, 18-21, 15-10, over Kiley Lewis and Ashlyn Power.
 
SLU's point Saturday against UNO came in the second flight.
