JACKSON, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team took home three individual titles at this weekend's Jackson State Invitational on the JSU campus.
Putri Insani and Panatchakorn "Fresh" Suanarsa each won their singles flights, while Insani and
Flory Bierma claimed the top doubles flight. Southeastern head coach
Jason Hayes was pleased with the team's progress over the weekend as much as the results.
"We didn't have our best day on Friday," Hayes commented. "But we improved in every facet on Saturday and played with better attitude and energy. We had a successful weekend against good competition. We'd like to thank Jackson State for putting together a great tournament."
Hayes was also quick to praise the efforts of the players who came home with hardware after the weekend.
"Flory and Putri are just so comfortable playing together in doubles," Hayes said. "They were All-Southland Conference as a team last season and they're playing at a higher level now.
"We're so pleased to see Fresh as a freshman play so well this weekend," Hayes added. "Putri had a tough, physical weekend and definitely earned her singles flight victory."
Southeastern will continue fall play next week, traveling to Destin, Florida to compete in the Blue Water Bay Classic set for Wednesday through Sunday.
