HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's basketball teams will look to continue strong starts to Southland Conference play, while the spring tennis season opens, the indoor track and field teams return to action and the baseball team hosts the First Pitch Banquet and Alumni Game during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (10-10, 2-1 Southland) will open the week with an 8 p.m. Southland Conference contest versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday in the University Center. On Saturday, the Lions host UIW at 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear their best full denim outfits for the Denim Delight promotion.
 
The Southeastern women's basketball team (7-6, 3-0 Southland) opens the week with a 5:30 p.m. contest versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday in a matchup of the last two undefeated teams in conference play. On Saturday, UIW comes to town for a 1 p.m. matchup.
 
Thursday's Spotlight Players of the Game will be Natalie Kelly and Cierria Cunningham. Hailey Giaratano and Alexius Horne will be Saturday's Spotlight Players of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive trading cards featuring that game's Spotlight Players, courtesy of PRIDE.
 
With a roster featuring six newcomers, the Lion tennis team will open the spring season on Saturday, traveling to Southern Miss for a 2 p.m. match in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
 
On Friday, the SLU men's and women's track and field teams will participate in their second meet of the indoor season. The Lions and Lady Lions will be in Lake Charles for the McNeese Invitational 2.
 
The Southeastern baseball team will host the First Pitch Banquet and Alumni Game this week. On Friday, the First Pitch Banquet opens the week's festivities at 7 p.m. in the War Memorial Student Union on the SLU campus.
 
The event includes dinner, a cash bar, silent auction, raffle and a cash drawdown. Individual seats are $100 and reserved tables (eight seats per table) are available for $1000. In addition to the dinner, silent auction, raffle and drawdown, a senior player will be selected as the keynote speaker. With limited seating available, fans are encouraged to reserve their space as soon as possible.

The Lions will also host an alumni game at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Admission to the scrimmage, which features Southeastern baseball alumni squaring off against the 2022 Lions, is free. Baseball alumni wishing to participate in the game are asked to RSVP through associate head coach Andrew Gipson at baseball@southeastern.edu or (985) 549-5130.

The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Basketball with David Kiefer is set for Monday at 7 p.m. The show will feature Kiefer and host Allen Waddell discussing Lion hoops every Monday through March 14 at Rainbow Daiquiris (14384 West Thomas Street).
