HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University softball team opened its fall schedule with a 17-3, 10-inning exhibition win over Northwest Florida State Friday evening at Hammond America Sportsplex.
 
The Lady Lions collected 17 hits on the way to the lopsided victory. Five Southeastern pitchers combined to hold the visiting Raiders to five hits over the 10-inning contest.
 
Madisen Blackford was 4-for-5 to lead the SLU offensive attack. Bailey Krolczyk (3-for-4), Madison Rayner (2-for-4) and Lexi Johnson (2-for-2) also had multiple hits and all homered during a nine-run seventh inning that broke the game open.
 
Rayner led the Lady Lions with four RBI, while Krolczyk, Johnson and Ellie DuBois drove in three runs apiece. Blackford, Krolczyk, Johnson and Sarah Diaz shared game-high honors with two runs apiece.
 
KK Ladner led SLU in the circle, allowing two hits and striking out five in four innings of work. DuBois followed with two perfect innings of relief, then Karlee Kraft and Alyssa Romano pitched an inning apiece without allowing an earned run. MC Comeaux closed out the contest by striking out four in two scoreless innings.
 
SLU will return to action on Wednesday, hosting LSU Eunice in a 10-inning exhibition at 5 p.m. at Hammond America Sportsplex.
