HAMMOND, La. – The 2021-22 Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics year will officially open during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The defending Southland Conference Tournament champion SLU soccer team will head west to open the 2021 season. The preseason league favorites open their campaign on Thursday, traveling to face Grand Canyon. On Sunday, the Lady Lions will face Arizona State. Both matches will kick off at 9 p.m. (CDT).
 
Fans will get their first look at the Southeastern volleyball team on Thursday. The Lady Lions will compete in the intra-squad Green and Gold exhibition match at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center.
 
Sponsored by Olive Garden, Strawberry Jam is open exclusively to Southeastern students and is set for Tuesday at 6-8 p.m. on the new Strawberry Stadium turf. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the parking garage adjacent to Strawberry Stadium.
 
Students in attendance will receive free food from presenting sponsor Olive Garden and a free t-shirt as available. A pep rally featuring football, soccer and volleyball student-athletes will kick off the event. The national champion Southeastern cheerleaders and Lionnettes dance team, along with the Spirit of the Southland band will also be in attendance.
 
A DJ will provide musical entertainment. Students will also be able to enjoy yard games and interactive inflatables.
