Southeastern Set to Host 2021 Southland Conference Tournament

SLU faces Abilene Christian on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in single-elimination opening round

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will host and participate in the 2021 Southland Conference Softball Tournament, scheduled for Tuesday through Friday at North Oak Park on the SLU campus.
 
The Lady Lions (27-21) are the No. 5 seed in the eight-team tournament field and will face eighth-seeded Abilene Christian (14-32) at 1:30 p.m. in the opening single-elimination portion of the bracket.
 
The winner will advance to the double-elimination portion of the bracket and face No. 4 seed Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The tournament, which will all air on ESPN+, runs through Friday with the winner earning the conference's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Southeastern will be making its ninth trip to the Southland Conference Tournament prior to the 1998 season. The Lady Lions are 13-15 all-time in the league tournament.
 
SLU enters the postseason with a .290 team batting average. Anna Rodenberg leads Southeastern with a .405 batting average, followed by Audrey Greely (.373), Aeriyl Mass (.365), Lindsey Rizzo (.355) and Cameron Goodman (.327). Mass leads SLU with 61 hits and 38 runs scored, ranking second and third, respectively, in the Southland in those categories.
 
Greely and Mass are the top power threats, sharing the team lead with three home runs. Mass leads the team with 28 RBI, followed by Greely (22), Goodman (20) and Madisen Blackford (20). Mass also paces the roster with nine doubles, while Goodman boasts a team-high three triples.
 
Greely is sixth in the Southland with a .460 on-base percentage. Blackford and Kelci Bodin are tied for eighth on the league leaderboard with a team-high 20 walks.
 
Southeastern is currently second nationally with 143 stolen bases and third in Division I in steals per game. Rizzo (29, 2nd), Mass (28, 3rd) and Goodman (26, 4th) all sit in the Southland top five in steals, while Bodin (18), Greely (15) and Cameron Beal (11) have also been productive on the base paths.
 
Eight SLU pitchers have combined for a 3.89 team earned run average. Heather Zumo (15-6, 2.36 ERA), MC Comeaux (9-5, 4-67 ERA) and Sophie Hannabas (2-6, 6.14 ERA) have been the Lady Lions' top starters, while Ellie DuBois (0-2, 2.84 ERA) is leading the Southland with a single-season school record six saves.
 
Abilene Christian comes to Hammond with a .244 batting average, led by Shaylee Alani, who is hitting at a .308 clip. Avery Miloch and Calie Burris are the top power threats for the Wildcats with nine and eight home runs, respectively.
 
ACU enters the postseason with a 5.86 team ERA. Samantha Bradley (10-13, 4.43 ERA) and Riley White (4-14, 6.46 ERA) are the primary arms for Abilene Christian.
 
Southeastern took two of three from the Wildcats back on March 26-27 in Hammond.
