HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana track and field team had 13 student athletes named to the 2021 All-Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field team, including nine men and four women, the league office announced Thursday.
SLU had five first team selections for the men as
Franck DiSanza (javelin),
D.J. Ruffin (long jump),
Slavko Stevic (high jump), Tommy Nedow (discus) and
Jonathon Sawyer (400m) all won the Southland Outdoor title in their respective events May 14-16 in Humble, Texas. The Lady Lions also had a first team selection as
Charlotte Wissing took home the javelin title at the outdoor championships.
Southeastern added four second team recipients including
Sophie Daigle (women's 1500m),
Ashley Davis (women's shot put), Sawyer (men's 200m) and the men's 4x400 of Sawyer, Ruffin,
James Benson II and
Donovan Storr.
Third team selections included
Indya Jackson (women's 400m), Benson II (men's 400m),
Stevon Crooks (men's shot put) and
Bradley Makuvire (men's 5k).
