JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana track and field team will send nine student-athletes to the 2021 NCAA East Regional Qualifying Outdoor prelims Wednesday-Saturday at Jax Track-Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.
 
Franck DiSanza, the Southland Conference Outdoor Javelin Champion, is ranked third in the east standings after a 75.80m (248 feet, 8 inches) throw at the Southeastern-Conference Tune-Up Meet May 1^st in Hammond, Louisiana. The freshman will be in action Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
 
Conference long jump champion D.J. Ruffin will also make the trip to Jacksonville. The Gautier, Mississippi native had a season high-mark of 7.83m (25-8 ¼) set at the Texas Relays March 25 in Austin, Texas. The senior enters the regional ranked 13^th in the long jump and will compete Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT.
 
Jonathon Sawyer (45.35) and James Benson II (46.05) will race in the men's 400m Wednesday night at 6:25 p.m. CT. The duo holds the top two times in the Southland after their performances at the Texas Relays. Sawyer, a senior, won the Southland Outdoor Championship in the event and is ranked 11^th in the regional standings entering the week. Benson II, a junior, is ranked 19^th.
 
SLU's Ashley Davis will start things off for the women Thursday in the shot put at 5 p.m. CT. The Watson, Louisiana native threw 16.69m (54-9 ¼) at the SLU Pre-Conference Tune Up May 1 in Hammond. The senior is ranked 14^th in the East Regional standings.
 
Tommy Nedow will be in the field Friday at 12:30 p.m. in the discus. The freshman is the reigning Southland Conference Champion in the event and has a top mark of 53.74m (176-4) which earned him a spot in the East Regional.

Also in the field for the Lions will be Southland Outdoor high jump champion Slavko Stevic Friday at 1 p.m. The freshman set a personal best 2.17m (7-1 ½) at the Drake Relays April 24^th earning a spot in the regional.
 
The 4x400 men's team of James Benson II, Donovan Storr, D.J. Ruffin and Jonathon Sawyer ran a school record 3:04.98 at the Texas Relays. The group enters the prelims ranked fifth as they are set to run Friday at 8:15 p.m. CT.
 
Kristian Jackson will be the final competitor of the weekend for Southeastern. The junior will compete in the women's discus Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. CT. The Zachary, Louisiana native threw a personal best 51.66m (169-6) at the South Alabama Invitational March 12 in Mobile, Alabama to punch her ticket to the regional.
 
The top 12 finishers in each event in the preliminary round will advance to next month's NCAA Championships June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
