DiSanza, 4x100 Men Join Wissing in Setting Facilty Records

HAMMOND, La. –
Charlotte Wissing set a school and facility record while Franck DiSanza set a facility record in the javelin events Saturday for the Southeastern Louisiana Track and Field team during the second day of the Southeastern-Conference Tune Up Meet at the Southeastern Track Complex.

Wissing, out of Emsdetten, Germany threw 160 feet, 0.5 inches (48.78m) breaking the school record in the javelin which was held by Betsy Baldwin (157-7, 48.03m) since 2006. The facility record was held by Northwestern State's Ashley Aldredge set at the 2015 Southland Outdoor Championships.

The mark also earned Wissing the Southland's top spot over Annina Bradenburg (150 feet, 45.71m) of Abilene Christian.

DiSanza threw 248-8.25 (75.80m) to break the facility record set by former Lion Derek Hampton (228-4, 69.49m) at the 2015 Southland Outdoor Championships. The mark moves DiSanza to the top of the Southland standings. The throw was also good enough for fifth in the nation and third in the East Regional Qualifying Standings.

A Rolle, Switzerland native, DiSanza now owns the second best throw in the Southland since 2017 when SLU's Gennard Paul threw 255-4 at the Southland Outdoor Championships.

The men's 4x100 team of D.J. Ruffin, Donovan Storr, James Benson II and Jonathon Sawyer ran a 40.02. The time broke Sam Houston's facility record (40.06) set at the 2015 Southland Outdoor Championships. The Lions just missed the 21-year old school record (39.93) set in 2000 by Duriel Mason, Craig Coleman, Dionte Hunt and Doenell Hayes.

"In the meet previews we discussed using this meet as an opportunity to fine tune things as we prepare for the Conference Championship," said SLU Track and Field head coach Corey Mistretta. "Both men's and women's teams took that to heart and left their mark on the record books. Coach Tholis (Matt Tholis – SLU throwers coach) has been telling me for a while now that his group was ready to strike. Well, they proved him right today. I am extremely proud of the way the throwers performed. I think we showed that we are in a good place heading into our final preparations for conference. Time to rest up a little, heal some minor injuries, and put our game faces on."

Next up, SLU can now turn their attention to the Southland Outdoor Championships which are Friday-Sunday May 14-16 in Humble, Texas.
