SLU Adds Krolczyk for 2022

Power-hitting catcher comes to Hammond with three years of eligibility remaining

HAMMOND, La. – Catcher Bailey Krolczyk will continue her athletic and academic endeavors starting in the 2022 season as a member of the Southeastern Louisiana softball program, SLU head coach Rick Fremin announced Thursday.

The 6-2 Krolczyk hails from Corpus Christi, Texas and is currently playing at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. She will come to Hammond with three years of eligibility remaining.

"We expect Bailey to be a very valuable addition to our program both offensively and defensively," Fremin commented. "We're very high on her future potential and we expect her to be an immediate force in the middle of the lineup."

Despite missing time due to injury this season, Krolczyk is batting .400 with nine home runs, 23 RBI and 24 runs scored in 19 games at MCC. She spent the 2020 season at Tyler Junior College, where she hit .500 with four home runs, nine doubles and 22 RBI in 22 games before the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Krolczyk prepped at Veterans Memorial High School. She hit .500 as a senior with five home runs and 20 RBI on the way to being named second team all-district.

Krolczyk is the eighth new addition for the 2022 season for SLU. The Lady Lions added utility player Blaire Bizette (New Roads, Louisiana), infielder Sarah Diaz (Lafayette, Louisiana), utility player Taylor Duncan (Lake, Mississippi), pitcher Alexis Findley (Jefferson City, Missouri), utility player Elise Jones (Livingston, Louisiana), pitcher Leah Marshall (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) and Madison Watson (Baton Rouge, Louisiana).
