Meyers Leads Lions After First Round of Southland Championship

SLU Senior in 15th Place Through 18 Holes

MCKINNEY, Texas – William Meyers is tied for 15th place to lead the Southeastern Louisiana men's golf team following the first round of the 2021 Southland Conference Championship at Stone Ranch Country Club.
 
Meyers, a senior, was near the top of the leaderboard for much of the first round. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native was -1 through 14 holes with three birdies, a double bogey and 10 pars. However, two bogeys and a triple bogey on three of the final four pushed him to +4 (76) for the opening round.
 
Lamar leads the tourney at -2, 10 shots ahead of the rest of the field. LU's Nikaloi Schaffrath leads the tournament after 18 holes shooting a -5. Schaffrath was the only player in the field of 55 who shot under par in Monday's opening round.
 
Fans can follow the second round of the tournament Tuesday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m. as live stats will be available with links available at the Southeastern Golf schedule page at LionSports.Net.
