DES MOINES, IOWA – The Southeastern Louisiana men's 4x400 team set an outdoor school record for the second time this season as James Benson II, D.J. Ruffin, Donovan Storr and Johnathon Sawyer ran a 3:04.98 Saturday at the Drake Relays.

The mark breaks the previous time of 3:06.79 from March 27 at the Texas Relays which was set by Storr, Benson II, Sawyer and Agerian Jackson.

Saturday's performance ranks SLU tied for fourth with Kentucky in the NCAA East Qualifying standings. The Lions finished second in Saturday's race behind the nation's top 4x400 team, North Carolina A&T.

Also, SLU's Slavko Stevic finished runner up in the high jump. The Serbia native set a personal best jumping seven feet, 1.5 inches (2.17m) ranking him at the top of the Southland rankings and tied for 14^th in the NCAA East Qualifying standings.

"It was great to finish off the meet on such a high note," said SLU Track and Field head coach Corey Mistretta.  "Yesterday the weather was really uncomfortable for us and we didn't perform as well as we hoped. I was very proud of the way Slavko and the relay team showed up ready to compete today. We will look to take this momentum into the next couple of weeks as we prepare for the Southland Conference Championships."

The Southland Outdoor Championships are May 14-16 in Houston Texas. In prepartion, SLU will host the Southland Conference Tune-Up Meet Saturday, May 1^st at the SLU Track Complex.
